Rae Lesser Blumberg
Rae Blumberg received her B.S. in journalism and her M.A. and Ph.D. in sociology from Northwestern University. Her research focus is on theories of gender stratification and gender and development. Publications include Gender, Family and Economy: The Triple Overlap; Making the Case for the Gender Variable: Women and the Wealth and Well-being of Nations; Engendering Wealth and Well-being, Stratification: Socioeconomic and Sexual Inequality, and "A General Theory of Gender Stratification" in Sociological Theory (1984). She has conducted field research on gender and development around the world, most recently in Ecuador, El Salvador, Thailand, Nepal, and the Dominican Republic.
