Dasom Lee (she/her/hers) is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, San Diego. Her research centers around International Migration, Race, Class, and Gender, and Qualitative Research methods. Based on ethnographic fieldwork in both the sending and receiving states of Vietnam and South Korea, her dissertation looks at the migration industry's role in incorporating migrant workers, marriage migrants, and international students from Vietnam to South Korea. Dasom has taught sociology, college writing, and Korean at UCSD both as a TA and an instructor. As a teacher, she values student learning through sociological imagination where students are invited to reflect on how the individual lived experiences are shaped by the broader social dynamics and how they can also be sources of social change.
